The Home Depot

We had a reservation to pick up a truck from this location. It took 25 minutes for the associate, Mimi, to find our reservation and then she tried to charge us again. Mimi couldn’t figure it out, had to have 2 other associates help, and then they wanted us to return it on time when we didn’t get it on time. Absolute insanity. Also, why are you picking your nose the entire time you’re helping us. I know this isn’t food service but you’re still dealing with the public, so basic hygiene would be appreciated.

It features a great shopping environment, friendly customer service, and a wide variety of items at decent prices. Plus, it features many items that can't be found in the store near POTOMAC. Our family is in need of remodeling our house (and backyard), and we get to take advantage of many items offered it offers. So the store may be a better alterative for those looking for more advanced home improvements.

I want to give a big thank you to Brian Singer and another gentleman at the Shady Grove Home Depot. I was talking with Brian inside the store when I mentioned that my car battery had died in the parking lot. Without even thinking twice, he walked outside with me and used his own car to help jump-start mine. Another associate, whose name I unfortunately didn't catch, also came out to help. They didn't have to do that—it was completely beyond their normal job responsibilities—but they did it anyway. What really stood out to me wasn't just that they helped me. It was the kindness and genuine willingness to help someone they had never met before. They turned a stressful situation into something I'll always remember. This is exactly why people keep coming back to Home Depot. You're not just buying tools or home improvement supplies—you're shopping at a place where people genuinely care about their customers. That kind of service can't be taught, and it certainly can't be bought. Thank you again, Brian, and thank you to the other gentleman who helped me. I truly appreciate what you both did, and I hope Home Depot recognizes what an incredible team they have at the Shady Grove store!!

At some point, they have to realize that providing service is actually the only reason they’re still here. Since everything can be purchased on Amazon or almost everything if you just point and say go to aisle 7 it doesn’t really help. If I’m asking for help, I literally need help and if you can’t at least do that for me, I don’t have a reason to come into your store.

This is the third time the return supervisor has shown a negative attitude toward customers. My company spends over $700,000 a year at this store, yet we continue to receive service that does not match the level of investment we make. Today we attempted to return a $4,800 generator, and instead of receiving assistance or a solution, we were met once again with a complete lack of willingness to help — even when communicating in English. It is disappointing that a store of this size allows its staff to treat customers this way, especially when dealing with high-value transactions. I truly hope Home Depot reviews these situations and improves the quality of service in the return department. Good customer service should not be optional.
